Jennifer Knapp

Jennifer was born in Waterloo, Iowa and raised in Hudson, Iowa. Her love of people dictated that she be involved in every sport, church group, choir and leadership position available. She attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, graduating in 2001. While at Luther Jennifer spent a semester in Malta. After Luther she worked at two law firms, one in Iowa City and one in Portland, Oregon. Jennifer graduated from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2006 after studying abroad in France and Spain. She promptly moved to Minneapolis where her only brother is located and worked in the Business Valuation group at LarsonAllen LLP for two years. Jennifer moved to Winona in 2009 and is once again very involved in the community, serving on multiple boards, belonging to clubs and organizations and volunteering.

Laurel Mohan

Laurel was born in Klamath Falls, Oregon and raised in California. She returned to Oregon to attend Lewis and Clark College where she studied Medical Anthropology. Laurel settled in Portland, Oregon where she worked with women and children escaping violence. Laurel developed an affinity for the Midwest while attending law school in Iowa City. After graduating from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2006, Laurel returned to California where she worked in the fields of Maritime Law and Bankruptcy. She also has extensive experience in Immigration Law and is a well-seasoned traveler. Laurel joined the Libera Knapp Law Firm in 2010 and is licensed to practice law in California and Minnesota.

Benjamin Hamel

Benjamin was born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa. Benjamin met his wife, Robin, while they were both attending Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. After graduating from Luther in 2002, Benjamin and Robin packed up their belongings and moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where Robin served as an Americorps member with the AIDS Council, and Benjamin pursued a lifelong passion of working at a record store. In the fall of 2005, Benjamin and Robin left the comforts of home and became United States Peace Corps Volunteers. They served for 27 months on the island of Kosrae, located in Micronesia, and often reminisce about this momentous and life-altering experience. Upon returning stateside, Benjamin and Robin settled back in Des Moines, Iowa to be closer to family and friends. Benjamin graduated from Drake University Law School in May of 2011. During law school, Benjamin worked at Iowa Legal Aid’s Central Iowa Regional Office, as a Poverty Law Intern. In November of 2009, Benjamin and Robin welcomed a new addition to their family, Franklin R. Hamel [Frank]. Aside from Benjamin’s interest in the law and being dedicated to his family, Benjamin is an avid collector of vinyl records, a lover of crossword puzzles, and a tennis enthusiast. Benjamin joined the Libera Knapp Law Firm in the fall of 2011. Benjamin’s main areas of focus and expertise include the following: Business Law, Tax Law, Bankruptcy Law, and Family Law.
